NSFA AI

Terms of Service

Last updated: September 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using NSFA AI (the "service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you should not use the service. The service is operated as an independent initiative in collaboration with Magnetic Core Nature Lab and Wild Around.

2. Description of the Service

NSFA AI is a multimodal content moderation system that analyses images and social media URLs for potential wildlife exploitation. It produces risk scores, classification labels, and structured metadata using computer vision, natural language processing, and large language model reasoning. The service includes an analysis tool, a human-in-the-loop moderation interface, and integration documentation.

NSFA AI is offered as a hosted proof-of-concept and is made available to partner organisations, researchers, and authorised users on an access-by-request basis.

3. AI Accuracy and Disclaimer

Analysis outputs are generated by AI models and are inherently probabilistic. NSFA AI does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any risk score, label, species detection, or other output. All results should be treated as decision-support signals to assist human review, not as definitive factual or legal determinations.

The system has not yet undergone formal empirical evaluation against annotated benchmark datasets. Claims about its performance represent design objectives, not measured results. See the white paper (Section 7.5) for details.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Submit content that contains explicit sexual material, graphic violence, or content that is illegal in your jurisdiction.
  • Use the service to harass, defame, or falsely accuse individuals or organisations based on AI-generated outputs.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the service's infrastructure.
  • Use analysis results as the sole basis for enforcement, legal, or regulatory action without independent human verification.
  • Resell or redistribute access to the service without authorisation.

5. User Content and Licences

You retain ownership of any content you submit to the service. By submitting content, you grant NSFA AI a non-exclusive licence to process, store, and analyse that content for the purposes of generating risk assessments, maintaining the moderation queue, and improving the system's methodology.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit any content you upload, including respect for the intellectual property and privacy rights of third parties.

6. Analysis Records

Analysis records generated by the service are stored in the NSFA AI database. These records may be reviewed by authorised moderators and administrators. Aggregated, anonymised data derived from analyses may be used for research, advocacy, and publication purposes without identifying individual submitters.

7. Intellectual Property

The NSFA AI methodology, risk-scoring rubric, prompt design, and system architecture are documented in the published white paper as a research contribution. The hosted service and its underlying implementation remain under the stewardship of the NSFA AI team. The NSFA (Not Safe For Animals) standard and branding are maintained by the initiative.

8. Limitation of Liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, NSFA AI and its collaborators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.

Because the service is a proof-of-concept built with commercially available AI, it may contain bugs, produce incorrect outputs, or be modified or discontinued at any time without notice.

9. Access and Availability

Access to the service is granted at the discretion of the NSFA AI team. Accounts may be revoked or suspended for violations of these Terms or for any other reason deemed appropriate by the administrators. The service does not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

10. Modifications to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Contact

Questions about these Terms may be directed to the NSFA AI team through the About page or by contacting the project maintainers directly.
